Disappearing
Architecture

Since the radical exploitation of lignite has left enormous marks on the countryside and the flooding of former pits is in full process, it seems to become appropriate to ask in how far we can perceive a renaturated area as a natural condition, after it has been in a state of exhaustion. Or is a new picture of nature in the making, in which our perception is distracted by our knowledge of the past so that the idyll of man-made nature leaves us in a state of discontentment.
